Terre [tair] n.
earth or ground
Quite simply, it means down-to-earth design: Designing smart and building responsibly, helping people realize their dreams, and creating spaces that last through use, changing styles and evolving needs. At Terre Design Studio, we don’t design to test out trends or flatter our egos. We use design to make your house work for the way you live. Period.
Laura Pitcher and Jennifer Radakovic, originally from Pennsylvania and Tennessee respectively, moved to Virginia to attend UVA. After earning degrees in architecture (Laura a BS and Jennifer an MArch), Jennifer put in several years with both residential and commercial architecture firms and Laura a decade doing residential work, half of it as a design consultant and project manager for regional firms.
In 2008, the designers’ lives crossed paths, this time working at the same architecture firm. Laura and Jennifer discovered an immediate chemistry and they wanted to package it in the form of a new, reimagined, design firm. In 2010, the LEED-accredited designers started Terre Design Studio to put homeowners—and their lives—first and foremost in the design equation.
Now, with more than 18 years of architecture and design experience to draw from, Jennifer and Laura continue to bring that same fresh perspective and good energy to everything they do. Whether they’re brainstorming the next innovation in urban chicken coops or determining how to work around those pesky zoning setbacks, the two work as two halves of one very creative whole. It’s a seamless partnership that goes a long way in helping homeowners realize their dreams.
